Deeptech Nation Switzerland collects and processes personal data from:

• Potential or actual interested parties who contact Deeptech Nation Switzerland directly;
• Newsletter recipients.

Personal data is typically collected directly through website use or through direct communication via e-mail, phone or other channels. However, it can also be obtained indirectly, especially through the purchase of supplementary data from third-party sources (e.g. social media).

Deeptech Nation Switzerland processes the following categories of personal data in particular:

• Personal details and contact information: this includes, but is not limited to, first and last name, maiden name, home address, city of residence, telephone number, e-mail address, age, date of birth, gender, marital status, family members, emergency contact information, photo, signature, and so on;
• Data in connection with marketing: this includes information such as newsletter opt-ins and opt-outs, documents received, invitations to and participation in events and special activities, personal preferences and interests, and so on;
• Data in connection with the use of the website: this includes, but is not limited to, IP address and other identifiers (e.g. social media usernames, MAC address of the smartphone or computer, cookies), date and time of the website visit, pages and content accessed, referring websites, and so on;
• Data in connection with communication: preferred communication channel, correspondence and communication with Deeptech Nation Switzerland (including communication records), and so on.

Deeptech Nation Switzerland is authorized to process CUSTOMER DATA in accordance with the applicable law for various purposes that include but are not limited to the following:

• Administration of the users of the WEBSITE and other activities involving CUSTOMERS; operation and further development of the WEBSITE (including the provision of features requiring identifiers or other personal data) and other IT systems; identity checks;
• Creation of statistics, budgets, records, management information and other reports about CUSTOMERS, transactions and activities, offers, and other business aspects of Deeptech Nation Switzerland for purposes relating to the management and development of the company, its offerings and its activities, and project management;
• Protection of CUSTOMERS, employees and other individuals, as well as protection of data, secrets and assets of Deeptech Nation Switzerland;
• Compliance with Deeptech Nation Switzerland’s legal and regulatory requirements and internal policies; pursuit and enforcement of various rights; defense against legal claims; civil litigation; complaints; prevention of abuse; legal investigations or proceedings; responses to inquiries from the authorities;
• For other purposes, insofar as a legal obligation requires the data to be processed or this was evident or indicated at the time of data collection due to the circumstances.

Deeptech Nation Switzerland uses the CUSTOMER DATA for the CUSTOMER PROCESSING PURPOSE in accordance with the following legal bases:

• Performance of the contract;
• Fulfillment of a legal obligation;
• Consent of the customer (only insofar as the processing is carried out at their specific request and if the consent can be withdrawn at any time; an example of this would be the receipt of newsletters for which the CUSTOMER has registered); and/or
• Implementation of advertising and marketing;
• Efficient and effective improvement of existing communication;
• Efficient and effective protection of customers, employees and other individuals, and protection of the data, secrets and assets of Deeptech Nation Switzerland and of data, secrets and assets entrusted to it;
• Maintenance and secure, efficient and effective organization of business operations, including secure, efficient and effective operation and further development of the WEBSITE and other IT systems;
• Prudent corporate governance and development;
• Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and internal policies;
• Interest in the prevention of fraud, misdemeanors and crimes, as well as investigations in connection with such offenses and other inappropriate conduct; handling of legal claims and actions against Deeptech Nation Switzerland; participation in legal proceedings; cooperation with the authorities; assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims.

To the extent permitted by applicable data privacy law, Deeptech Nation Switzerland may process VISITOR DATA for the following purposes in particular: operation and further development of the WEBSITE (including the provision of features that require identifiers or other personal data); certain statistical analysis of the use of the WEBSITE; prevention of abuse; legal investigations or proceedings; responses to inquiries from the authorities. It does all of this on the same basis as described above for CUSTOMER DATA.

To the extent permitted by applicable data privacy law, Deeptech Nation Switzerland can process PARTNER DATA for the following purposes in particular: conclusion and performance of contracts and other business relationships with PARTNERS; promotions, advertising and marketing; communication; invitations to events and participation in promotions for PARTNERS; involvement in joint activities; compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and internal policies; pursuit and enforcement of various rights; defense against legal claims; civil litigation; complaints; prevention of fraud and abuse; legal investigations or proceedings; response to inquiries from the authorities; sale or purchase of business divisions, companies or parts of companies; other corporate transactions, as well as the associated transfer of PARTNER DATA. It does all of this on the same basis as described above for CUSTOMER DATA.

• To the extent permitted by applicable data privacy law, Deeptech Nation Switzerland may disclose CUSTOMER DATA, VISITOR DATA and PARTNER DATA to the following categories of third parties that process personal data for the above-mentioned processing purposes on behalf of Deeptech Nation Switzerland or for their own purposes:
• Service providers, both within Deeptech Nation Switzerland and externally, including data processors;
• Local, national and foreign authorities and official bodies;
• Media;
• Insurance companies;;
• The public, including visitors to Deeptech Nation Switzerland’s websites and social media;
• Industry organizations, associations, other organizations and bodies;
• Other parties involved in potential or actual legal proceedings.

Deeptech Nation Switzerland can also transfer CUSTOMER DATA, VISITOR DATA and PARTNER DATA to THIRD PARTIES in any country worldwide. If data is transferred to a country without adequate data privacy protection, Deeptech Nation Switzerland ensures adequate protection through appropriate contractual guarantees, particularly on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses and Binding Corporate Rules. Alternatively, it may rely on the exception of consent, of performance of a contract, or of the establishment, exercise or enforcement of legal claims, overriding public interests, the data made public by CUSTOMERS, VISITORS or PARTNERS, or the necessity to protect the integrity of these individuals. The CUSTOMER, VISITOR and PARTNER can obtain a copy of the contractual guarantees from the data controller or can find out from the data controller where such a copy can be obtained. Deeptech Nation Switzerland reserves the right to redact such copies for the purpose of safeguarding data privacy or maintaining confidentiality.

The website for Deeptech Nation Switzerland uses cookies. Cookies are a widely used technology with which the WEBSITE assigns to a user’s browser a unique identifier that the browser then stores and presents on request. Deeptech Nation Switzerland uses “session cookies,” which are automatically deleted at the end of a visit to the WEBSITE. These cookies allow the servers to maintain the reference to the user as this user navigates the WEBSITE. “Permanent cookies” are also used. These cookies are only deleted after a period specified by the WEBSITE elapses (e.g. two years after the last visit). They are employed to retain the user’s default settings (e.g. language) across multiple sessions or to enable automatic login. By using the WEBSITE and the associated features (e.g. language selection, automatic login), the user consents to the use of permanent cookies. Users can choose to block or delete cookies in their browser, but this may impair the functionality of the WEBSITE.

To the extent permitted by law, Deeptech Nation Switzerland may also incorporate code in its newsletters and other marketing e-mails to track whether the recipient has opened the e-mail and downloaded the images it contains. The recipient has the option to block this technology in their e-mail program; however, by agreeing to receive newsletters and other marketing e-mails, they are consenting to its use.

If Deeptech Nation Switzerland uses third-party advertising on the WEBSITE (e.g. banner ads) or intends to place its own advertising on third-party websites, it may also use cookies from companies specializing in displaying such advertising. These companies do not receive any personal data from Deeptech Nation Switzerland; they only set a permanent cookie for WEBSITE users in order to recognize them as such, and this action is taken solely for the purposes of Deeptech Nation Switzerland. This enables Deeptech Nation Switzerland to display targeted ads to these individuals on external websites. The operators of the third-party websites do not receive any personal data either.

Deeptech Nation Switzerland may use Google Analytics or comparable services on the WEBSITE. This is a service provided by a third party located in any country in the world (in the case of Google Analytics: Google Inc. in the USA, www.google.com) that helps Deeptech Nation Switzerland to measure and analyze the use of the WEBSITE. Permanent cookies set by the service provider are also used for this purpose. Deeptech Nation Switzerland does not share personal data or store IP addresses with the service provider. However, the service provider can monitor the user’s activity on the website, aggregate this data with information from other tracked websites that the user has visited, and use the findings for its own purposes (e.g. advertising control). If the user has personally registered with the service provider, the provider has knowledge of the user’s identity. The service provider is responsible for processing the user’s personal data in compliance with the service provider’s data privacy provisions. Deeptech Nation Switzerland receives information on the use of the WEBSITE from the service provider.

Deeptech Nation Switzerland may also use plug-ins from social media networks such as LinkedIn on the WEBSITE. The default settings of the WEBSITE are configured so that the plug-ins are deactivated. The user therefore needs to activate them on their own. If the user activates the plug-ins, the social media network operators can create a direct association with the user while they are on the website and can tell that they are on it. The operators can analyze this information. The operator of the social media network is responsible for processing the user’s personal data in compliance with the operator’s data privacy provisions. Deeptech Nation Switzerland does not receive any information from the operators of these social media networks.

All data subjects to whom the GDPR applies (particularly CUSTOMERS, VISITORS and PARTNERS) have the right to know what personal data concerning them is being held by Deeptech Nation Switzerland. They also have the right to ask Deeptech Nation Switzerland to rectify, erase, and limit the processing of their personal data, and to object to it being processed. If the processing of personal data is based on consent, the data subject may revoke this consent at any time. In certain cases, the data subject has the right to request the data generated from their use of online services in a format that is structured, commonly used and machine-readable, allowing for further use and transmission. Please direct any questions regarding these rights to the designated contact person mentioned above. Data subjects to whom the GDPR does not apply may be entitled to similar rights under the applicable data privacy law. Deeptech Nation Switzerland reserves the right to restrict the rights of each data subject within the constraints of the applicable law, which may include withholding complete information or refusing to erase data.

If Deeptech Nation Switzerland makes an automated decision that has legal implications for an individual or significantly impacts them in a similar way, the data subject can speak to a competent person at Deeptech Nation and request that the decision be reconsidered or ask that it be assessed by a person from the outset, insofar as the applicable law provides for this. In this case, the data subject may lose access to certain automated services. The person will be separately informed of such decisions subsequently or in advance.

Each data subject has the right to lodge a complaint with the competent data protection authority in their respective country.

Deeptech Nation Switzerland reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time without prior notice or announcement. The latest version published on the website shall apply in each case.
